For calm, cocooning evenings, this is the candle. The Naturals Santal & Vanilla Orchid Soy Candle by The Aromatherapy Co fills a room with creamy vanilla and delicate white florals of lily and white orchid, lifted by soft citrus and sun-soaked fruits and grounded in warm sandalwood, amber, musk and wild patchouli. It is serene, comforting and gently indulgent.

Poured in New Zealand using a natural soy wax blend with a 100 percent cotton wick, it is vegan and cruelty-free, with a burn time of approximately 60 hours. Most parts of the candle are made to be reused or recycled, and once you reach the end you can refill the glass vessel with a wax refill rather than starting again.

How long does it burn for? Around 60 hours when cared for well. Trim the wick to 5mm before each light, let the first burn melt to the edges over two to three hours, and avoid burning for more than three to four hours at a time to keep the burn clean and even.

Can I reuse the glass? Yes. Wash the empty vessel with hot soapy water and either refill it with a Naturals wax refill or repurpose it for trinkets or stems.

Getting the Most From It

Trim the wick to 5mm before every light to keep the flame steady and the glass clean. On the first burn, let the wax melt all the way to the edges, which takes around two to three hours, so it sets an even pool and avoids tunnelling. Keep subsequent burns to no more than three to four hours at a time, set the candle on a heat-resistant surface away from draughts, and never leave it burning unattended. When about 10mm of wax remains, retire that pour and refresh the vessel with a Naturals wax refill.
