Height is easy to find and length is not. A room full of upright stems reads flat, and one trail over the edge of a shelf breaks the line and makes the whole arrangement look considered. It is the cheapest correction in styling and the one most often missed.
Put them where a real one would struggle. Above a kitchen cupboard, on a high shelf, in a bathroom with no window, at the top of a bookcase where nobody is going to remember to water anything. Give the trails a shake and separate the leaves before you walk away, since they arrive compressed from the box and a fanned trail reads far more like the living thing.
The pot matters as much as the plant. See Planters & Pots for something to set them in, or Hooks if they are going up.

Where do trailing faux plants work best?
Anywhere high and hard to reach. Above kitchen cupboards, on the top of a bookcase, in a windowless bathroom, or in a hanging planter, which are all the places a living trail would slowly give up.
How do I make one look real?
Separate and fan the trails before you leave it, so the leaves are not all facing one way, and let the length fall unevenly. A trail that arrives straight out of the box always looks like one.
Do they need a special pot?
A pot with some height helps, so the trail falls clear rather than resting on the shelf. Many come potted already, and the product page says which.
Can they go outside?
Most are made for indoors. Sustained sun will take the colour out of them over a season, so a covered porch is fine but full exposure is not.
