Throws

The throw is the piece that actually gets used, so ours are chosen for how they wash as much as how they drape. It lives on the sofa, gets dragged out to the deck, ends up in the kids' room and goes through the machine more often than anything else in the lounge.

Most of the range comes from Bengali Collections. There are 120 x 150cm lounge throws in textured 100% cotton knits, including the Greige Pom-Pom, Ivory Diamante and Ivory Corduroy, all machine washable. There are reversible cotton quilts in greige stripe, khaki gingham and sage gingham, each with a plain reverse so you can flip the look, and knitted cotton baby blankets such as the Goose. The colours stay neutral, so they sit happily across the back of a sofa or the end of a bed.

What size is a lounge throw?
Our Bengali Collections lounge throws are 120 x 150cm, which is big enough to cover one person on the sofa and still neat enough to fold over an arm or across the end of a queen bed.

How do I wash a cotton throw?
Machine wash on a cool, delicate cycle, ideally on its own or with similar colours, then line dry in the shade. Avoid a hot tumble dry, which can shrink cotton knits and flatten textures like pom-poms and corduroy ribs.

What is the difference between a throw and a quilt?
A throw is usually a single knitted or woven layer made for the sofa. A quilt is layered and stitched through, so it is flatter and a little warmer, and ours are reversible, which makes them the easy final layer on a bed.

Can a baby blanket double as a throw?
For a pram, a cot or a small lap, yes. Our knitted cotton baby blankets, such as the Goose, are warm without being heavy, and they look good folded over the arm of a nursing chair or at the end of a cot.
