A rug is the quickest way to make a room feel finished. It marks out a seating area, softens hard floors and adds the texture that bare timber and tile cannot. Most of ours lean natural and neutral, chosen to sit quietly under whatever the room is doing, with a few deeper greens, browns and charcoals for rooms that want more weight.

The range runs from the classic Flokati, hand woven in Greece from 100% wool with a deep shag pile, in eight sizes including a 200cm round, to chunky New Zealand wool loop piles like the Ollis and Tundra Pebble. For texture there is the Eka, handwoven in India from 100% jute, in rectangles, rounds and a runner. Our newest arrivals add plush shag piles such as the Symara and Devon, abstract designs like the Alto and Munro in greys, ivory and gold, and patterned options including the Ascot, which starts at a 50 x 80cm mat size. There are indoor/outdoor rugs for patios and decks too.

What size rug do I need for a living room?
Size up. The front legs of the sofa and chairs should sit on the rug so the seating reads as one group, which in a standard lounge often means 200 x 300cm. A rug that is too small makes the whole room look unfinished.

Is a wool rug practical with kids or pets?
More than people expect. Wool is naturally resilient, resists dirt and hides everyday marks, especially in a long pile like the Flokati. Shake it out or vacuum on a low setting, blot spills straight away, and have it professionally cleaned now and then.

How do I clean a jute rug?
Vacuum regularly and blot spills immediately with a dry cloth, as jute does not like getting wet. Rotate it every six months so it wears evenly, and use an underlay to protect the floor and keep the rug in place.
