Hang lower than you think. Centre at eye level, roughly 145cm to the middle, and if it is going above a sofa or a bed, leave about 15 to 25cm of breathing room above the furniture rather than floating it near the ceiling. One large piece beats three small ones in most rooms. If you are building a gallery wall, lay it out on the floor first and keep the gaps consistent at around 5 to 8cm.

How many pieces should go on a gallery wall?
Odd numbers are easier to balance, so start with three or five and build out. Keep the gaps consistent and repeat one element, whether frame colour, palette or subject, so the wall reads as one piece.

What are the Wilde Road prints?

Should art match my cushions and rugs?
