The cleaning cupboard is where plastic tends to win by default. Florence makes the case for wood and natural fibre instead: tools that look good enough to leave out by the sink and are made to be used for years.

The range is made with traditional craftsmanship in Germany. In the kitchen there are beechwood dish brushes with replaceable tampico fibre heads, a long beech and sisal vegetable brush, a bottle brush with a wool tip and a copper cleaning sponge for pots. Around the house there are ostrich feather dusters, a beechwood dustpan brush and a sisal and piassava scrubbing brush for floors and outdoor furniture. In the bathroom you will find beechwood nail brushes, a konjac charcoal facial sponge, a dry body brush, hemp and sisal soap bags and an FSC certified beechwood baby brush with soft natural bristles.

What is tampico fibre?
Tampico is a natural fibre from the leaf of the agave plant, grown in the highlands of northern Mexico. It holds water well and is hard-wearing, which is why Florence uses it for dish brush heads and nail brushes that get wet every day.

How do I care for a wooden dish brush?
Rinse it after each use, shake out the excess water and leave it somewhere airy to dry rather than sitting in a puddle by the sink. Keep it out of the dishwasher, which dries out the beechwood, and swap the head when the bristles splay.

Can I replace the head on a Florence dish brush?
Yes. We sell a Florence replacement dish brush head with a wooden base and natural tampico fibre bristles, so when the old head wears out you keep the handle and only replace the part that does the scrubbing.

How do wool dryer balls work?
Add the three balls to a load in the dryer. They tumble between your clothes, separating them so warm air moves through the load, which helps cut drying time and wrinkles. The Florence set is made from 100% New Zealand wool.
