Work in odd numbers and vary height, shape and material, pairing something tall with something low and something round. Leave empty space between groups so each one can be seen, and repeat a colour or finish across the shelf.

How do I clean marble and travertine pieces?
Dust with a soft dry cloth and wipe with a barely damp one when needed. Avoid acidic cleaners, vinegar and citrus, which can etch natural stone, and dry the surface straight away.

What can I use a book stand for?
Our acrylic, wooden and brass book stands hold an open coffee table book, a cookbook, an art print or a tablet upright. The clear acrylic X-shape style almost disappears, so the cover does the talking.

Are the bookends heavy enough for real books?
