A full-length mirror changes a room more than almost anything else you can put in it, and Hubba does it without the heaviness that usually comes with the category. The arch is the whole idea. Where a rectangular floor mirror reads as furniture, that soft curved top edge reads as architecture, and it gives the piece a reason to exist on the wall even when nobody is looking into it.

It stands 158cm tall and 51cm wide, with a slim 4cm profile, so it is genuinely full length for most people while taking up very little visual weight. The frame is a fine metallic rim in either brass, which brings warmth to neutrals and pale timber, or titanium, which sits cooler and more graphic against white and charcoal. Both finishes are in stock. The rest of the range lives in our mirrors collection.

Lean it or mount it

Hubba is designed to do both, and it arrives equipped for either.

Leaning is the relaxed option and the one most people choose. It comes with anti-tip hardware, a small anchor that fixes discreetly to the wall behind so the mirror cannot be pulled or knocked forward. On a mirror this tall that is not optional in a home with children or pets, and we would encourage you to fit it whichever way you use the piece. Leaning wants roughly 15 to 20cm of clear floor depth at the base so the mirror can sit at a comfortable angle rather than standing bolt upright.

Wall mounting uses a separate set of hardware, also included, and suits entryways, narrow hallways and any spot where floor space is precious or foot traffic is high.

Can I hang it sideways?
No, and this is worth knowing before it arrives. Hubba is designed for vertical display only and cannot be hung horizontally. The arch and the mounting points are both oriented for upright use.

Do I need to buy anything extra?
Not for a solid wall. Both the wall-mount hardware and the anti-tip hardware come in the box. For plasterboard without a stud in the right place, use appropriate anchors rated for the load, as you would with any mirror of this size.

Where It Works Best

In a bedroom, place it in the corner nearest the window and angle it slightly into the room. It will pull light across the floor and effectively double the perceived depth of the space, which is why it works so well in the compact bedrooms most New Zealand homes actually have. Set a chair or a small stool beside it and you have a dressing corner without needing a dressing room.

In an entryway, mount it rather than lean it. A 158cm mirror opposite or adjacent to the front door makes a narrow hall feel twice as wide, and it does the practical job of a last-look mirror on the way out. Keep the console below it sparse. One vessel, one lamp, nothing competing with the arch.

In a living space, lean it against a long blank wall behind a chair or beside a plant. Avoid centring it above furniture the way you would a landscape mirror, since the vertical proportion wants floor contact or a clear vertical run to look intentional.

The arch reads beautifully alongside other curved forms, so it pairs naturally with the rest of the Hubba family: the Hubba Arched Mirror at 86 x 91cm for a wall-hung version at a wider proportion, the Hubba Round Mirror in titanium for an entryway, or the softer organic Hubba Pebble Mirror. On the console or dresser below, a Frida wavy marble tray keeps the curve language going.

Why You'll Love It

  • Genuinely full length at 158cm, without the bulk a floor mirror usually brings
  • Arched silhouette that works as wall art in its own right
  • Lean it or mount it, with the right hardware supplied for both
  • Anti-tip anchor included, so a tall mirror stays a safe one
  • Two finishes, brass for warmth or titanium for a cooler graphic edge
  • Slim 4cm depth, so it sits close to the wall in tight spaces

Worth Giving

This is a housewarming or a milestone-birthday gift rather than an impulse one, and it suits someone who has just moved into a place they intend to stay in. It also lands well as a gift between partners setting up a first proper bedroom together. Because of the freight, talk to us before you buy if it is going to a different address from yours, and we will sort the delivery quietly so the recipient is not the one signing for an oversized carton.

The short of it

The Umbra Hubba Arched Leaning Mirror is a full-length arched mirror measuring 51 x 158cm with a 4cm depth, available in brass or titanium. It can be leaned against a wall using the included anti-tip hardware or wall mounted with the separate hardware supplied, but it is designed for vertical display only and cannot be hung horizontally. It suits bedrooms, entryways and living spaces where you want to add light and apparent depth. As an oversized item it requires a freight quote before purchase.
