Soft. Sculptural. Timeless.

Few blooms carry the quiet romance of a dahlia. Ours is modelled on the classic English cottage-garden variety, Dahlia pinnata, with one generous layered head and two closed buds tucked along the stem. Standing 49cm tall in a softly aged cream, it brings the look of a just-picked garden bouquet indoors, with none of the watering, wilting or seasonal waiting. The petals carry a faint antique tint rather than a flat white, which is what lets this stem sit so easily alongside limewashed walls, warm timber and unbleached linen. It is one of the most versatile pieces in our faux flowers collection, and one we reach for constantly when styling.

Why You'll Love It

  • Large dahlia head with fine, individually shaped petals
  • Two closed buds along the stem for a realistic, garden-picked look
  • Aged cream tone that flatters neutral and muted interiors
  • Wired stem bends and trims to suit any vase height
  • Reusable season after season, with no water, light or upkeep

Shop the Look

Everything styled alongside the dahlia in our photographs is available here. The arrangement sits in the Thira Stone Vase in Aged Grey, with a slimmer, lighter option shown in the Tall Ribbed Glass Vase. Layered around it you will find Live Beautiful by Athena Calderone, our Silver Quad Candle Holder, and the sculptural Resin Clam Shell Dish. Together they make a tablescape that feels collected rather than staged, and each piece works just as hard on its own.

Styling Tips

  • Group three stems in a single vessel for a sculptural, considered moment. Our Tall Ribbed Glass Vase gives them height and light.
  • Build an everlasting bouquet by layering dahlias with the Duchess Peony Stem in White and a soft green filler such as our Mini Eucalyptus Bush.
  • Keep the palette quiet: dusky pink, blush, bone and stone. For contrast, set a cream bloom against a textured vessel from our vases and vessels edit.
  • A single stem is enough for a bedside table, a bathroom shelf or a kitchen bench. Three to five earn a mantelpiece or console.
  • Wedding and event stylists love this one for vintage-leaning arrangements that need to survive a full day (and travel home afterwards).

FAQs

How many stems do I need? Three is the sweet spot for a small to medium vase. For a fuller, more romantic bouquet, work in odd numbers and mix bloom sizes, adding hydrangea or peony for volume and a fine foliage stem for movement.

Can the stem be shortened? Yes. The internal wire cuts cleanly with a pair of florist snips or wire cutters, so you can shape the stem to the exact height of your vessel.

How do I keep it looking new? A gentle dust with a soft, dry brush every few weeks is all it needs. Keep it out of direct, prolonged sunlight to protect the aged cream tone.

Does it make a good gift? A single stem is a lovely small gesture, and a set of three wrapped with a vase makes a considered housewarming or thank you gift. You will find more ideas across our gifts for the new home edit.

If you would like help building a bouquet, or you are working towards a larger floral installation, get in touch and we will put together a few options for you.

Pairs beautifully with the Grecian Jug Small 21cm for a ready-made arrangement.

In Short

The English Dahlia in aged cream is the stem we would choose if we could only keep one. It is soft enough to disappear into a quiet interior, sculptural enough to hold a room on its own, and unhurried in the way the best florals always are. Buy one, buy three, and let it keep flowering long after the season has turned.
