Brass

Brass warms a room in a way paint never quite manages. It reads as gold without the flash of gold, and it looks better with a little age on it, which is more than most finishes can claim.

This collection gathers the brass and brass-finish pieces from across the store. Is it solid brass or a brass finish?
Both are here. The Papier HQ desk tray and book holder are solid brass, while many mirrors, lamps and planters use a brass finish over another metal. Each product page states which, so check before buying if weight or patina matters to you.

How do I clean brass?
Dust with a soft dry cloth. Solid brass can be brought back with a brass polish if you prefer the shine, or left to darken naturally. For brass-finish or lacquered pieces, skip polish and abrasives, which can wear through the coating.

Will brass tarnish over time?
Solid brass develops a patina, particularly where it is handled, and many people prefer it that way. Lacquered and plated finishes change far more slowly. Keep brass away from harsh cleaners and wipe off water marks promptly.

Does brass go with black or silver?
Yes, with a little intent. Black is the easiest partner, and pieces like the Umbra Bolo hanging planter already combine the two. With silver or chrome, let one metal lead and use the other in smaller touches so the room looks planned.
