Strands of tiny, teardrop-shaped leaves cascade in soft, beaded ropes, giving the String of Tears its delicate, sculptural charm. This faux version of the trailing succulent, often called string of teardrops and known botanically as Senecio citriformis, stretches to around 71cm, so it can spill generously from a high shelf, hanging pot or tall vase.

It keeps the plump, juicy look of a real succulent without any risk of overwatering, shrivelling or shedding, which makes it ideal for bright bathrooms, kitchens and shelves where a living plant might struggle. Browse more greenery in our faux plants collection.

Why You'll Love It

  • Delicate teardrop-shaped foliage on long trailing strands
  • Around 71cm long for real visual impact
  • No watering, ideal for spots where succulents struggle
  • Suits modern, minimalist and boho interiors
  • An easy, low-maintenance gift for a new home or office

Styling Tips

Drape it from a tall white sculptural vase so the strands run down the curves, or tuck it into a ripple-glass vase on a side table beside a diary and your morning coffee. In a pastel ribbed pot, it spills over the edge in soft green loops. It also brings movement to the top of a bookshelf, the corner of a bathroom vanity or an open kitchen rack. For a bigger display, get in touch and we can help build a custom artificial arrangement.

FAQs

Does it come in a pot?
No, it is sold as a trailing stem so you can choose your own vessel. A pot from our planters and pots collection or a tall vase shows off the full cascade.

How do I style the trails?
Let the strands fall naturally over the rim, or gently separate them so some sit short and others hang long for a more relaxed, lived-in look.

In Short

The String of Tears is a 71cm faux trailing succulent modelled on Senecio citriformis, with long strands of green teardrop-shaped leaves. Sold without a pot, it needs no watering and suits hanging pots, tall vases, high shelves and bathrooms.
