Ecoya Sea Salt & Coconut

Ecoya's Sea Salt & Coconut has joined the core collection, which means it is not a summer novelty that disappears in March. It is here to stay, and that changes how you can use it. This is a fragrance you can commit a hallway to.

What it smells like

The opening is salt and solar, with a lift of tropical fruit, so the first impression is air and water rather than anything sweet. The heart is where the coconut arrives, layered through jasmine, ylang-ylang and frangipani, with coconut wax giving a creaminess that sits under the florals rather than on top of them. Underneath sit wood, cedarwood, moss and vanilla, which keeps it warm and stops it reading as a holiday candle.

Coconut fragrance usually lands in one of two places, sunscreen or dessert. This one avoids both, which is why it works in a room styled with linen, pale oak and warm white walls.

How to layer it without overdoing it

The mistake with a fragrance you love is running it everywhere at once. Pick a hierarchy instead. Start on skin, where the wash and lotion do the quiet work.
