Objects & Sculpture

From a gold balloon dog to a melting disco ball, the playful end of this range sits beside quieter knot sculptures, ceramic doves and travertine bookends. Group three objects of different heights on a tray and a shelf looks deliberate rather than cluttered.

The finishing pieces. Our objects and sculpture collection is where a shelf, console or coffee table gets its personality: knot and chain sculptures in timber and metal, ceramic doves and figurines, marble and travertine bookends, acrylic and brass book stands, glass orbs and stacked stone forms. Each one is chosen to hold its own without shouting, in the natural, tonal and metallic finishes that suit a coastal Scandi or Japandi home.

Style them in odd numbers, vary the heights, and let a vase or coffee table book anchor the group. See our coffee table styling edit for more ideas. Shop online or in store at Mount Maunganui.

How do I style decorative objects on a shelf?
Work in odd numbers and vary height, shape and material, pairing something tall with something low and something round. Leave empty space between groups so each one can be seen, and repeat a colour or finish across the shelf.

How do I clean marble and travertine pieces?
Dust with a soft dry cloth and wipe with a barely damp one when needed. Avoid acidic cleaners, vinegar and citrus, which can etch natural stone, and dry the surface straight away.

What can I use a book stand for?
Our acrylic, wooden and brass book stands hold an open coffee table book, a cookbook, an art print or a tablet upright. The clear acrylic X-shape style almost disappears, so the cover does the talking.

Are the bookends heavy enough for real books?
Our Papier HQ bookends are solid marble and travertine, so they have real weight to hold a row upright. For a long run of heavy hardcovers, use a pair and keep the books snug between them.

Why Your Choice to Shop Small Matters More Than You Think

A few days ago I turned down an interview with a national news programme about the impact big-box retailers have on small independent stores. Not because I had nothing to say, but because I was too...
