Do I need a pot with a drainage hole?
For live plants, drainage matters. Choose a pot with a hole, like the Potted Zurich or Wide Oslo, or use a cover pot with the plant left in its plastic nursery pot inside, and tip out any water that pools after watering.

What is a self-watering planter?
A self-watering planter has a built-in reservoir that the plant draws water from as it needs it, so you top up less often. The Potted Berlin self-watering planter comes in Eucalypt ceramic in two sizes.

What size pot should I choose?
For a live plant, pick a pot 2cm to 5cm wider than the nursery pot so there is room to repot later. For a faux plant, measure the base and choose a pot it drops into snugly, then fill any gap with moss or pebbles.

How do I hang a plant from the ceiling?
Screw a ceiling hook into a joist rather than plasterboard alone, as a watered plant is heavier than it looks. Umbra's Bolo holder mounts to a wall or ceiling, and the TRIFLORA hanging planters make a small window garden.
