French Country

French Country is the scheme that forgives you. Nothing needs to match, the timber is better when it is worn, and a chip in the ceramic counts as provenance rather than damage. It is the opposite of a showroom, which is precisely why it feels like a home.

The palette comes off a farmhouse table: cream, stone, soft sage, dusty blue, warm white. Materials are honest and a little rough. Linen that creases, ceramic that is not quite even, iron and aged brass, timber with a history. Add flowers, real or otherwise, in a jug rather than a vase.
